Single-vehicle Washington Co. crash kills 1 on Rte 1

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI – A 22-year-old man from Woonsocket died Friday morning when his vehicle crashed on a highway in South Kingstown, reports abc6.

Police say the incident happened just before 1 a.m. on the southbound side of the Comd Oliver Hazard Perry Highway, or Route 1, near Congdon Drive.

For unknown reasons, the victim’s 2009 Infiniti veered from the highway and collided with a tree. The driver died at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim as Jai Juan Giguerre. They say he was unrestrained at the time of the crash.
