Narrative
TIVERTON, RI – Emergency crews airlifted a 25-year-old man to the hospital on New Year’s Eve after he crashed his vehicle along a Tiverton roadway.
The accident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on Stone Church Road near the intersection with Sylvia Road, which is just west of the Rhode Island and Massachusetts border.
Police say the driver was speeding at the time of the crash. Crews found the overturned vehicle along the roadway in the woods and used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver, who sustained critical injuries.
A passenger in the vehicle sustained non-critical injuries and did not require extrication. It’s unclear if he required hospitalization.
