Narrative
NEWPORT, RI – Two people sustained injuries Wednesday in a solo crash on the south side of Newport County.
The accident happened just before 1 a.m. at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Hazard Road. This is just southwest of Hazard’s Beach and north of Cherry Neck.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a Toyota Corolla lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and hit a tree.
The 29-year-old female driver of the vehicle lost consciousness upon impact and went to the hospital with serious injuries.
Medics transported the 39-year-old male passenger to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
