Narrative
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – A 20-year-old woman died early Sunday morning from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle car accident in East Providence.
The incident happened just before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Crown Avenue, which is northeast of Squantum Woods Park.
The investigation indicates that the victim was a passenger in the white Kia sedan that crashed on the south side of town. Medics transported the passenger to the hospital, but she died soon after. Authorities identified the victim as Ariana Roody.
Authorities arrested the driver of the Kia, identified as 20-year-old Chaz Gagnon, on multiple charges, including reckless driving and evading police. Gagnon will face charges upon his release from the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
