Narrative
WOONSOCKET, RI – Two people sustained serious injuries Monday morning when a vehicle hit them along a busy roadway in the city of Woonsocket.
The accident happened around 7 a.m. along Hamlet Avenue between Welles Street and Florence Drive. This is near Hamlet Middle School.
Police say that a snow bank in the roadway caused a driver to lose control of their car, at which point the vehicle struck a four-year-old girl and an adult woman.
Medics airlifted the child to the hospital with serious injuries. The woman went to the hospital via ground ambulance. Her injuries were also serious.
The driver involved in the crash did stop to render aid and speak with police.
A full investigation is underway.
