Narrative
TIVERTON, RI – A 19-year-old man went to the hospital Tuesday after a fiery solo crash at a busy intersection in north-central Newport County.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Fish Road and Hooper Street, which is just south of the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Authorities say the driver was likely speeding when his vehicle struck a rock, overturned several times, went airborne, and caught fire. The force of the collision threw the driver from the vehicle.
The victim sustained serious injuries in the accident and required hospitalization.
