Narrative
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – Crews responded to a major accident Thursday morning along the interstate in East Providence.
The crash occurred around 10 a.m. near Exit 1A on eastbound I-195, which is just east of George Redman Linear Park and alongside the MTTI Water Street Campus.
Police haven’t shared any details regarding the collision except to say that it involved an overturned vehicle.
There’s no word yet on injuries, and it’s unclear how many vehicles were involved.
The crash blocked the center and right lanes of I-195 eastbound for about an hour while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
