Narrative
PROVIDENCE, RI – Four people went to the hospital Sunday after a vehicle struck a Providence fire truck along the interstate.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on the northbound side of I-95 before Thurbers Avenue, which is just west of Corliss Cove and east of the Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex.
The investigation indicates that the fire truck was parked at the scene of an earlier crash when an SUV crashed into it.
The collision injured the driver of the SUV as well as three firefighters, all of whom went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
The accident caused significant damage to the fire truck, which had to be towed from the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
