State police car struck while at work in East Greenwich

EAST GREENWICH, R.I.- A police car was hit while protecting other first responders at a crash site on Route 4 on Sunday, NBC10 News reports.

At 8a.m., a single car crash prompted first responders and law enforcement to arrive at the scene under the overpass on Middle Road.

The right lane of this area was obstructed by a police vehicle so that traffic did not interfere with the investigation of the crash.

This police vehicle was then hit by a car coming from the south. The civilian car had veered out of the southbound lanes, into the center railing, and then into the police car.

Everyone involved in this second crash had minor injuries and were hospitalized as needed.
