EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – One person sustained minor injuries when a vehicle crashed into the side of an apartment building in East Providence on Sunday, reports WPRI 12.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Evergreen Drive, which is southwest of US Highway 6.
Police have confirmed that only one person in the apartment suffered injuries as a result of the crash. The collision left a hole in the side of the building, which will be reviewed by an inspector.
Authorities charged the driver of the vehicle, identified as 50-year-old Antonio Lopes, with driving under the influence. Upon arrival at the scene, they found Lopes in a room of the apartment building. It is unclear if he sustained injuries in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
