Woman awaits charges after ramming cars in Narragansett

NARRAGANSETT, RI – A woman was hospitalized and awaits criminal charges after intentionally ramming her vehicle into three other cars on Tuesday in Narragansett.

WPRI 12 News reports that the incident began Tuesday morning just after 10 a.m. when an employee with the Department of Environmental Management asked a woman to move her parked car. The woman refused and fled in her vehicle when approached by an Environmental Police Officer.

Law enforcement pursued the woman on Galilee Escape Road, where she rammed into three vehicles, including a marked police cruiser.

Following these collisions, the woman’s vehicle ignited. A DEM employee and an eyewitness rescued the suspect from her burning vehicle, at which point medics transported her to South County Hospital.

The Environmental Police Officer sustained a minor wrist injury, but no additional injuries were reported.

Authorities say the suspect could face felony charges for her actions. The investigation is ongoing.
