NEWPORT, RI – A vehicle caused significant damage when it crashed into the front of a south Newport home on Saturday before leaving the scene, WPRI 12 reports.
Police say the incident happened at a home on Rose Street early on Saturday morning. A car collided with the front steps of the home, leaving a hole in their place. The car then sped away.
Authorities later determined that the driver of the car that hit the home on Rose Street was the same man that firefighters rescued soon after from Newport’s Cliff Walk. The man fell forty feet and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The residents of the home on Rose Street did not get hurt when the car hit their house.
It is currently unclear if the driver of the vehicle will face charges. The incident remains under investigation with Newport Police.
